Overview:  This non-computer based workshop teaches the attendees the scheduling techniques and tools, with emphasis on the critical path method for construction projects. The attendees will learn how to establish project priorities, develop realistic schedules and apply today’s management techniques to construction projects. Attendees will gain experience with network approaches such as Critical Path and Precedence Methods. Also the attendees will learn how to analyze construction schedules and delay claims. At course completion, students will be able to:
• Understand the Critical Path Method techniques
• Define and use work breakdown structures (WBS) for grouping work activities
• Define project activities and develop an activity list
• Develop activity sequencing
• Estimate resource requirement for activities
• Estimate duration for activities
• Calculate overall project duration
• Analyze project critical path
• Understand the Interrelationship of costs and schedule
• Review a construction schedule for logic and critical path
• Understand the methods to update project schedule
• Recognize the different type of schedule delays
• Analyze a schedule delay
• Understand the project scheduling and implementation requirements for Federal projects (US Navy (NAVFAC) and Army Corps of Engineers).
